Vancouver Martial Arts 5 out of 5 based on 43 ratings. 43 user reviews.

I just wanted to thank you for all the help you've given David over these past six years. David has certainly developed a sense of self discipline and the ability to focus and set goals for himself through martial arts. He also benefited from the physical fitness and leadership training. I was very proud that he achieved his black belt last year. This success has also spilled over to his school work and he achieved straight A's on his report card at the end of his first year of high school. In addition, he received an academic award for the highest mark in grade 8 social studies.

Martial arts has certainly helped David & has given him a good grounding for the future.5

Vancouver Martial Arts not only got me in great shape and taught me effective and practical self-defense in a safe and positive environment, but also helped my son to become more disciplined, confident and respectful!5

Vancouver Martial Arts is encouraging my daughter to reach her personal maximum potential. She is developing strength of mind and strength of body. I am delighted with the concepts of Vancouver Martial Arts to guide the young and to see my child in the role of the mentored and mentor. The skills and philosophies learned at Vancouver Martial Arts will give direction to my daughter throughout her life.5

Our family is very happy to be part of Vancouver Martial Arts. When we decided to enroll our children in martial arts, we investigated several schools. Although Vancouver Martial Arts was not in our neighborhood, we were so struck by the difference in approach it offered over other schools, we decided it was worth driving across town to attend. At Vancouver Martial Arts, martial arts is presented not just as a sport of kicking, punching and being victorious, but rather a way to grow as a human being. In particular we value the positive, dynamic language Master Alan Azizi always uses with his students, exhorting them to do and be their best in the lessons and all areas of their lives. His teaching method is gentle and patient, while at the same time encouraging and expecting students to strive for a high standard of performance. Master Azizi is also clearly a skilled martial artist himself, giving us confidence the skills being taught properly and well. Vancouver Martial Arts has student of all ages, athletic abilities, body types, temperaments and ethnic backgrounds in various belt levels. This diversity is important to us for two reasons. Firstly, it shows that both our children, with their two very different personalities, have an equal chance to succeed. Secondly it demonstrates to our children themselves the universality of martial arts; this is something they can do their whole lives. Seeking and attaining the belt levels has helped our children see the values of working diligently toward a goal, and given them pride of achievement. As a sport, martial arts have helped their strength, speed, agility and self-defense skills. But more importantly to us, the positive environment of Vancouver Martial Arts Martial Arts teaches them confidence, self-discipline and respect for themselves and others. We are pleased to recommend Vancouver Martial Arts to anyone interested in bettering themselves with martial arts.5

I enrolled my son in taekwondo at Vancouver Martial Arts because I wanted him to increase his self-confidence. After attending Vancouver Martial Arts for about a year and a half, I can see that he approaches physical activity with more confidence. Now, he engages in sports more aggressively. When I asked my son what he felt was the biggest change since starting taekwondo; without; hesitation, he said that his lower-body strength has increased with all the kicks he’s learnt and practiced. He’s proud that he can now outrun some classmates who used to be faster than him! My son has received benefits from practicing taekwondo; however, I continue to send my son to Vancouver Martial Arts because I can sense a passion and deep sense of commitment from Master Alan. He wants to show people how they can integrate martial arts into their life to experience physical, emotional and spiritual success.5

I have two boys, 11 and 9 years of age. Both have been at Vancouver Martial Arts School for the past three and a half years. My reasoning for sending the children to the facility in the first place was because of the outstanding references I had received from other parents. In retrospect, it was one of the finest decisions I have made. Both children have surpassed my expectations in developing a wonderful positive wholesome approach to martial arts. This has naturally trickled down into their attitudes and confidence levels at home and in school. They have become focused in their studies and last but not least, Bahir (11 years old) is a few months away from a black belt. He plans to continue well into the future as a member of the facility. His younger brother is also at his black stripe level. I would encourage all parents to seriously consider investing in their children through the Vancouver Martial Arts Martial Arts School.5

Janice visited Vancouver Martial Arts 3 years ago with her friend. She was full of excitement and curiosity in the marital arts. Ever since, she has been enjoying learning Tae Kwan Do under Master Azizi's teaching. For the last 3 years, Janice committed to Vancouver Martial Arts to learn Tae Kwon Do and gained lots of confidence as she see herself progressing. She is so pound to tell people that she is now in red belt. Janice talks and demonstrates her accomplishments in martial arts with a great sense of joy and pride. She also develops a bond of kinship with friends in the Vancouver Martial Arts. She gets to learn from seniors and offers her knowledge and skills to the younger children. I am also pleased that Janice has had the opportunity to meditate before each class begins. I believe that it helps her focus and discipline her mind. I attribute Janice’s success in the martial art to the effort of Master Alan Azizi. He always teaches his students to respect each other and to develop the leadership through helping each other and working together to achieve their common goals. Master encourages students to do their best by acknowledging and complimenting their effort and success. Martial arts is one of the greatest things Janice has done; staying fit, and boosting her confidence and learning to defend herself when needed. She is looking forward to get her black belt soon and will continue her journey of becoming the best that she can be.5

Justin has been attending Vancouver Martial Arts for nearly one year now. The program has instilled in him a sense of purpose, focus and discipline without disturbing his pacifist philosophy. It has helped him remain calm under trying circumstances and also gives him an outlet for physical expression, which helps provide balance with the more intellectual pursuits which occupy most of his time. We are especially happy with his participation in Vancouver Martial Arts because of its philosophy of encouraging individuals to improve to their maximum potential. Thank you for providing such a positive atmosphere for personal growth.5

Dr. Marty Fishman, M.D.

I enrolled my son Chance into Vancouver Martial Arts to increase his focus and his ability to concentrate on tasks, as any 9 year old would like some assistance. Thoughout his training with Master, he has become more focused, physically and mentally sharper and has dramatically changed my view of Martial Arts. So much so that I had to join myself, and I am very pleased with the way I feel and the impact it has on my life for I hope decades to come. I encourage all parents to enroll their children in any Martial Arts Classes with Alan to join themselves to (A) support their kids, and (B) to become a better person for yourselves.5
